Innovation in the field: SOUL at the Industrial Tomato Open Day in Foggia, Italy
On July 22, Foggia (Puglia, Southern Italy)became a hub for agricultural innovation. SOUL Project showcased its bio-based and biodegradable in soil mulch film during the “Industrial Tomato” Open Day.
Organized by SATA and hosted at Agricola Varraso Giuseppe (Foggia, Italy), the event brought together farmers, agronomists, and industry leaders to discuss the progress of the 2026 processing tomato campaign.
Among product trials and machinery demonstrations, SOUL mulch films took center stage in the dedicated Innovation Area.
As the demand for sustainable farming practices grows, the SOUL project presented its bio-based and biodegradable in-soil products. During the field trials, attendees were able to observe how these innovative films perform for the demanding cultivation cycle of processing tomatoes.
The presentation highlighted the key advantages of SOUL’s bio-based solutions:
- Soil Health: SOUL’s mulch films are made from over 95% renewable materials and are biodegradable in soil
- Efficiency: SOUL’s mulch films protect the crops in the early stages of their growth
- Sustainability: SOUL’s mulch films reduce the carbon footprint of the tomato supply chain
SOUL’s products were presented by the project’s partner, Novamont, who engaged with local operators to discuss the adaptability of bio-based films to current agricultural machinery and their role in the future of the 2026 campaign and beyond.
